LITERACY TRAINING

Literacy distinguishes a person's ability to read and write. Reading and writing are essential to ensure adequate functioning in school, the workplace, and in society at large.

In school, children with communication disorders are more likely to struggle with literacy skills than their typical peers. They may often perform poorly in school, have problems reading, and have difficulty understanding and expressing language.

Adults may also have literacy problems, which may be a continuation of reading and writing struggles from childhood. Others may develop difficulties following a stroke or brain injury.
