Holly Robinson PeeteHolly Robinson Peete Donates Portions of Celebrity Apprentice Winnings to LA Speech and Language

Actress, author and activist Holly Robinson Peete and The HollyRod Foundation have awarded more than $20,000 to the Los Angeles Speech and Language Therapy Center in Culver City. The gift is a portion of Peete’s winnings on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. Holly played a shrewd and tough game; making it all the way to the finale.

The generous donation will help needy families send their children with autism to the Say N’ Play Speech and Language Summer Camp. It’s a fun 8-week program designed to help children with special needs develop their speech and language skills and provide experiential learning through community based activities. Dr. Pamela Wiley, founder of LA Speech and Language, says “we’re happy that Holly and The HollyRod Foundation chose our center and our families to share their generosity. This gift means many of our parents in need will have one less burden to carry.”

When asked why she chose to share her gift with LA Speech and Language, Holly Robinson Peete said “Dr. Wiley is one of my ‘angels on the path’ of our autism journey with our son. Her programs propelled him. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to help other children benefit from her amazing work with children on the spectrum.”

The Los Angeles Speech and Language Therapy Center has been serving families since 1979. The center’s culturally diverse staff provides speech and language therapy in several languages throughout LA County. The center also provides early intervention services, a social skills language program for children with Aspergers Syndrome, high functioning autism, parent training and the Say N’ Play Summer Speech Camp.
